Keith joined Paulette Edwards on BBC Radio Sheffield to discuss how the Street Soccer Foundation and The Big Goal are using football to fight homelessness.
It was a very inspiring day with the LFC Foundation Street Soccer Academy, seeing the great work that they do there and meeting the young people on the programme who were all engaged and determined. It was clear to see the value The Big Goal provides to the next generation, enhancing their life skills to boost physical and mental health. The participants on the programme had developed a great unity and friendship, which was a fantastic reflection on Katie Brayton running the Liverpool programme, who exuded nothing but positive energy!
We support a number of great causes and will continue to do so, but this one is really close to home as Onecom's roots were founded in the local area where many of our headquarters team live and work. Raising money for such a worthy charity is always important, but the human element of getting involved, meeting the people and seeing what value your experience can bring to helping improve young people’s lives is priceless.
It was great to see firsthand the fantastic work that the Street Soccer Foundation and Everton in the Community are doing to change people’s lives. I am a big believer in the value that team sports like football bring in nurturing and developing the transferable skills required for success in all aspects of life. Being able to play a small part and contribute to this fantastic cause has been a very rewarding experience for me and the team at Elite Group.
