Dataquest staff are sharpening up team tactics and fitness levels with some informal games in advance of the Southern Regional tournament to be staged at The Bobby Moore Centre in East London on April 23rd.
“Preparations are well underway across Dataquest,” said Will Lansdown, who heads up marketing at the London based IT Managed Service Provider.
“We’ve taken a structured but inclusive approach to getting match-ready, ensuring performance is our priority, whilst our focus remains on team spirit, participation, and having fun.”
“We’ve introduced a mix of weekly training sessions and informal games to build fitness and cohesion. Alongside this, we’re planning several friendly fixtures to give players the chance to gel as a team and sharpen their match play ahead of the tournament.”
Selection Process
Dataquest has focused on creating a selection process that reflects its culture, has invited interest from across the business and is running open training sessions to give everyone the opportunity to get involved.
“From there, we’ve selected a balanced squad that represents our entire organisation,” continued Will.
”A team manager has been appointed to coordinate training and logistics, along with a captain who naturally stepped forward through their leadership on and off the pitch. Both roles are key to ensuring the team stays organised, motivated and aligned.”
Building Momentum
Will reports excitement around the tournament growing internally, with strong engagement across teams together with a real understanding of The Big Goal’s objectives.
“We’ve been sharing updates to encourage participation and highlighting the wider impact of the initiative. What’s really motivating staff that may otherwise not get involved, is knowing that this is more than just a football tournament. It’s an opportunity to bring people together, support a meaningful cause, and represent the business in something that has real visibility and impact.”
“We will also be sharing the story externally in the days leading up to the event, making customers aware of our involvement and encouraging them to follow the cause. With the tournament now open beyond the ICT industry, it’s a great opportunity to extend that engagement even further.”
More Than Football
A key part of Dataquest’s involvement is supporting the wider ESG and CSR initiative behind The Big Goal.
“The work being done through the Street Soccer Foundation to tackle youth homelessness is something we’re extremely proud to be part of,” said Chief Sales Director Sebastian Paternoster.
“We’re actively engaging more closely with the Academies, attending training sessions, running Lunch & Learn days, and exploring more opportunities to support individuals beyond the pitch. Our internal Lunch & Learn sessions give Academy participants exposure to a working environment, helping to build confidence and understanding of career pathways and transferable skills.”
Looking Ahead
The opportunity to potentially represent England at the FIFCO World Corporate Champions Cup has added an exciting dimension to Dataquest’s support of The Big Goal.
“It’s something our team is heavily motivated by. Beyond that, the exposure and positive PR associated with the tournament make it a valuable platform for the business,” said Sebastian.
“We’re also looking forward to the National Finals and the Gala Dinner at St George’s Park. It’s a great opportunity to bring together colleagues, clients, and partners for what promises to be a memorable event. It’s a fitting way to celebrate everything The Big Goal represents.”
Shared Effort
Will Lansdown is delighted that support for The Big Goal has been strong across all areas of the organisation.
“From HR and leadership teams recognising the value of the ESG impact, to marketing helping amplify the story, it’s been a genuinely collaborative effort. As we move closer to the tournament, the focus remains on participation, purpose, and making a positive impact. Whether on the pitch or through the wider initiatives, we’re proud to be part of something that brings together business, community, and opportunity in such a meaningful way,” he added.
“Dataquest is a prime example of how companies are taking their involvement in The Big Goal beyond playing football. Its Lunch & Learn sessions are bringing Academy participants into the real world of business. That is highly beneficial to them and shows what a wider impact The Big Goal can create,” said Jade Fialho, Head of Academy Operations at the Street Soccer Foundation.
